Counselling Modalities
Read about the evidence-based practices I use in my counselling.

This modality comes from the perspective that the client is the expert in their own experiences and the therapist's role is to listen with curiosity to understand the client and to show them respect and support them with genuineness, allowing the client to unpack their story and reach insight and clarity.
-
This is an evidence-based therapy that helps the client to accept difficult emotions and acknowledge rather than avoid them. The client is encouraged to identify their values and take steps to align their lives with those values. The client learns to observe thoughts without judgment instead of ignoring them.

In CBT, clients are invited to recognise harmful or negative thinking patterns and explore what is going on beneath them. They are challenged to question the unhelpful beliefs that give rise to negative thinking and replace them with true, healthy thoughts. This is achieved through a step-by-step process of identifying and replacing old, harmful thoughts with new, healthy thoughts and consequently behaviour.
